Summary: Clear, concise scientific writing in English is an essential skill for researchers at all levels, for producing scientific publications and grant proposals.

Module 1 (6 hours): 1-hour weekly interactive workshops will take a very practical approach, first analysing scientific papers to understand the language style and the organization of ideas, paragraphs, major sections (introduction, materials and methods, etc) in scientific written work.

Module 2 (10 hours): Four 1-hour tutorials with 6 additional hours as an observer; 2 observers per tutorial will guide each student to understanding their strengths and weaknesses using material that they are actually working on (e.g. conference abstract, draft of a scientific article, grant proposal).

Skills acquired: an understanding of the organization and style of English scientific papers; improved scientific writing

Evaluation procedure: Individual-based assignments
