Summary: Effective scientific presentations are essential for today's researcher for illustrating results at international conferences, making a good impression at job interviews, and interacting with stakeholders (outreach).

Module 1 (8 hours): scientific presentations

Module 2 (8 hours): presentations to non-experts

Skills acquired: A practical, interactive approach will be taken in which students will discuss what makes a good presentation, and prepare and present their PhD project and/or results to their peers, in readiness for an international conference, job interview, committee review or defense, receiving input from the lecturer and their peers. The outreach section will focus on the language and graphics necessary for speaking to non-scientific audiences, and again include the preparation of captivating TED-like or flash talks.
