Project in brief

CROSSGRAPE will use a combination of phenotyping, physiological assessments and metabolomics in both controlled-environment and field experiments for assessment of the best primed-acclimation (PA) induction in grapevine (Gv) via cross-tolerance. In addition, the project will focus on quality traits and wine compositions.

Project objectives

  • To which extent PA induced via cross-tolerance can be an effective mechanism in inducing adaptation to MSC?

  • Which are the most promising cross-tolerance interactions for inducing a PA state in Gv?
  • What are the physiological mechanisms underlying the PA induction in ad hoc selected combinations?
  • Is it possible to exploit the gained knowledge to induce PA state via chemicals or via e.g. management in Gv leading to a better physiological fitness and maintained must quality in commercial vineyards under stress?

Impact

The project will define cutting-edge approaches to adapt viticulture to the ongoing Climate Change
