The Research Clusters represent the core organizational framework through which research in agriculture, food and environmental sciences is developed and integrated by C3A. They involve professors and researchers from the University of Trento, Fondazione Edmund Mach and other partner institutions to address key challenges in agriculture, food and environmental sciences.

Each cluster acts as a shared research space where fundamental and applied research coexist, fostering innovation across the entire agri-food system, from biological processes at the molecular and organismal level to technologies, markets, governance and consumer behaviour. This structure promotes scientific excellence, interdisciplinary training and the efficient use of shared infrastructures, data and methodologies.

The clusters are designed to support sustainable and resilient agricultural systems, high-quality and traceable food production, and the responsible management of natural resources in the context of climate change and global transitions. Strong emphasis is placed on collaboration with national and international research institutions, industry, farmers, policy makers and society.

Thanks to the Research Clusters, the C3A positions itself as an open and dynamic hub for international cooperation, innovation and impact-oriented research.
